From the New York Times bestselling author comes the wisdom to heal ourselves and those around us.

With Kitchen Table Wisdom, Dr. Remen established herself as an important new voice bringing hope and healing to a difficult world. Her book spent more than three months on the New York Times bestseller list, and maintained even longer runs on the Boston, San Francisco, and Denver lists.

Now she has written My Grandfather's Blessings, a work that further examines the human heart and celebrates those who serve life so beautifully, so effortlessly, so selflessly often without knowing.

It was Rachel Remen's grandfather, a kabbalistic rabbi, who gave her the eyes to see that service is what heals the isolation and loneliness in us all. Service happens every day in ways we don't notice: we serve each other; life serves us; and it is discovering the place of service in ourselves that leads at last to wisdom. As Remen says, "Every life serves a purpose which is both simple and profound. We are here to grow in wisdom and to learn to love better. What this says is that there are many life paths but all life has a spiritual agenda. And all people are on a spiritual path." These stories give us a profound sense of strength that is achieved by knowing that we belong to each other, and to life itself.

"Rachel Naomi Remen is nature's gift to us, a genius of that elusive and crucial capacity, the human heart. She has much to teach us about healing, loving, and living."--Daniel Goleman

What Customers Say About My Grandfather's Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging:

The book came in good condition and in a timely manner considering the Holiday season. Thanks

This book is a series of true stories not unlike modern parables that bring spirtual unsight in a most refreshing way. I have heard that the late Fred Rogers recommended this book highly and I wholeheartedly agree. It will bring tears and smiles.

The title of the book, "My Grandather's Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging" says it all. Remen explores some of the deep, basic needs of life, needs that are often not realized, glossed over and not realizing their significance in living life abundantly. The author, in relating what she learned, gleaned, absorbed from her Grandfather and translated those learnings, those blessings into her own life opens doors, essential doors, into the life of the individual who is reading the book. Dr. Blessings are given a new meaning and the importance, the vitality of both giving and receiving. Intentional living comes to mind.

I don't know what I will do when I finish this book, I will miss her gentle story telling and thoughful touching lessons. Each morning I read one of the short stories; each a touching, thoughtful gift. I wss given Rachel's book Kitchen Table Wisdom for Christmas. Many of the stories relate to those suffering from physical illness. When I finished the book, I purchased My Grandfather's Blessings and have continued to deeply enjoy the book. I feel a sense of healing and deeper appreciation for life, for myself and for others. Though I have never had significant physical illness, I have learned to be more gentle with my soul and to heal psycological hurts that have plagued me since childhood. I cannot say enough about this book.

This book is a beautiful reminder to look at our lives both wholistically and in the moment. It's such a comfort - I've read it all the way through, and now it sits on my nightstand and I page through it at random when I need some extra perspective on things. A wonderful book and a thoughtful gift.
